Kharkiv, Europe Brief News – Street Fighting broke out in Kharkiv as Russian forces pressed on Strategic ports in the country’s south side on Sunday. This Russian attack targeted the oil and gas facilities to cause major damage to Ukraine’s infrastructure.
Ukrainian President Zelensky said “ The last night was tough with more shelling and bombing of residential areas and civilian infrastructure. There is not a single facility in the country that the occupiers would not consider as admissible targets”.
According to the Kremlin, Russia offered to hold peace talks in Belarus to discuss the ongoing crisis in the region. The Ukrainian President Zelensky turned down the offer to meet in Belarus as it was initially used to Stage the invasion.
Russian Forces Activity in Kharkiv
There were a couple of pictures and videos uploaded on social media networks showing the activity of Russian Vehicles in the city of Kharkiv and Russian forces roaming in small groups.
The images that are coming in from Ukraine show how Ukrainians are resisting the Russian troops and giving them a tough time by protecting the country.
Ukraine’s government is making a risky move of releasing the prisoners with military experience to fight for the independence of the country. However, the officials have not specified whether the prison will release those who are convicted of all level crimes.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is yet to disclose what exactly his ultimate goal is for invading Ukraine. The western countries believe his main target is to overthrow the current Zelensky government and replace it with his own regime.
The pressure on strategic ports in the south of Ukraine aimed at seizing control of the country’s coastline stretching from the border with Romania in the west to the border with Russia in the east.
Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov, A Russian defence ministry spokesman said “ Russian forces had blocked the cities of Kherson on the black sea and the port of Berdyansk on the Azov Sea”.
He further added, “Russian forces also took control of an airbase near Kherson and the Azov sea city of Henichesk”.
Russian forces are aiming to cut Ukraine’s access to its seaports and that could prove to be deadly blows to the country’s economy. This move could also enable Russia to build a land corridor to Crimea to get a strategic advantage.
