Kherson, Europe Brief News – Russian officials claimed that they have successfully captured Ukrainian city Kherson after launching an invasion just a week ago. The Russian forces have taken full control of the Kherson territory and are moving forward.
More than half a million of the population have left Kherson city since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale invasion in Ukraine.
Russian forces are Striking with artillery bombing and missiles on Ukrainian cities. Citizens are uploading videos on social media that clearly show how Russian forces are damaging infrastructure.
Joe Biden, US President said, “While he may make gains on the battlefield, he will pay a continuing high price over the long run”.
Zelensky said in a video message on Wednesday that almost 6,000 Russians have been killed during the first six days of the invasion and believed that the Kremlin would not be able to bear this loss.
Biden is going one step ahead in imposing sanctions on Russia for its unjustified invasion of Ukraine. The US is ready to join the European Union and Canada in banning Russian planes from US Airspace.
Russian forces have seized Kherson, a city of nearly a quarter-million people just north of Crimea. A Russian defence ministry spokesman claimed that this is the first biggest city to fall to Russian forces so far.
The Mayor of Mariupol said that the city has been under extreme shelling since late Tuesday and the Ukrainian army is failing to evacuate the wounded ones.
Stop Bombing Civilians
Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrainian President pleaded with Russia to stop bombing Civilians and resume peace talks.
Zelensky said in a message “ It’s necessary to at least stop bombing people, just stop the bombing and then sit down at the negotiating table”
Oleg Synegubov, Regional Governor said “ At least 21 people were killed and 112 wounded in shelling in Kharkiv in the last 24 hours.
As per various reports, More than 450,000 people have fled the country to Poland and almost 113,000 to Romania.
The United Nations General Assembly is all set to rebuke Russia on Wednesday and demand Moscow to stop its invasion and withdraw all of its troops from Ukraine without further destruction.
