Moscow, Europe Brief News – RT Russia state-controlled media network said it will start broadcasting through Rumble. RT News decided to move to the Rumble after Facebook and Twitter had limited access to RT following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
A number of tech companies have banned Russian state-controlled media from broadcasting on their platforms. These media networks include RT and Sputnik.
Streaming Platforms decided to take immediate action after receiving several requests from the government who called to stop the spread of Russian Propaganda. Russia has named its invasion of Ukraine a “special Operation”.
The Google-owned video platform has also banned RT broadcasting and said that the ban was effective immediately but it may take some time for the block to become fully effective.
Google Europe said, “ Due to the Current war in Ukraine, we are blocking youtube channels connected to RT and Sputnik across Europe, effective immediately”.
The technology giant previously took an action to restrict the ability for RT News and other Russian-state controlled channels to make money from advertising that appears on videos.
As the sanctions galore and pressure mounted by government officials on tech companies, the platform decided to impose a complete ban on the coverage of the RT News channel.
Roku’s spokesperson said, “Streaming media company Roku has removed the app for RT from its Roku Channel store globally”.
Big tech companies crack down RT News
Facebook parent company Meta claimed that they have blocked the Russian state-controlled channels which are considered mouthpieces of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s regime.
The change means that RT and Sputnik are not visible on Facebook, Youtube, Instagram all over the EU. However, the services remain open in the regions of the Uk.
Facebook owner meta said on Tuesday it was globally demoting content from Russian state-controlled media outlets’ Facebook pages and Instagram accounts”.
Rumble is a renowned video site among political conservatives. In December last year Former US President Donald Trump’s media venture, Trump media and technology Group said they will use Rumble to deliver their video and streaming for Truth social.
Truth social is the name of the App that Donald Trump launched to make his way back to the media platform after he was banned by major platforms to have a presence on their sites.
