EBN- The campaign of attacks and harsh criticism in Türkiye against beauty queen Idil Bilgin continues, since she was recently crowned Miss Turkey 2024, on the grounds that she does not have the aesthetic qualities sufficient to win this title.
Among twenty competitors in the competition held in Istanbul, the jury chose the young woman with a medical degree, who then faced a lot of criticism and bullying over her appearance. Some noticed that her photos attached to the official competition account were modified, considering that her appearance in the photos was different from the one on screen.
Many commentators on the competition on Turkish channels considered that she may be nice and have high and distinctive morals, but her features and aesthetic qualities are not enough to represent 80 million people as the most beautiful young woman in Turkey, pointing out that the young woman is “not ugly”, but her specifications are not enough for the position of Miss Turkey.
Idil is 24 years old, a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at Koç University in Türkiye, and will represent Turkey in the Miss World competition. She distinguished herself during the competition by attracting attention to herself due to her performance in the final stage and her smart and touching answers.
After winning the title, the young woman expressed her enthusiasm and promised that she would be an ambassador for the beauty and culture of Turkish women, stressing her determination to work to achieve her goals and ambitions, and to be a role model for young women in Türkiye.

After the criticism and bullying that the young woman was exposed to in the media and social media, the official account of the Miss Turkey competition responded to the attack, by defining the meaning of beauty, according to the “TDK” dictionary, which defined beauty as “aesthetic pleasure, enthusiasm, admiration, arousing feature of feelings, a merciful word or merciful behavior, kindness, gentleness, beloved for her moral and intellectual qualities.
