LONDON — Coronavirus is forcing millions of us apart — but according to the U.K.s deputy chief medical officer, it will also push some dithering couples closer together.
Jenny Harries said couples who currently live apart should use the countrys new extreme social distancing rules to make a choice: take the plunge and move in together or deal with a potentially long period apart.
On Monday evening, the Prime Minister Boris Johnson ordered Brits to stay at home and not see friends in a significant escalation of the U.K.s lockdown measures.
Asked about what the measures mean for couples living separately, Harries offered some blunt relationship advice.
“If youre two individuals, two halves of the couple currently in separate households, ideally they should stay in their households,” Harries said at a press conference in Downing Street on Tuesday.
