Kyiv, Europe Brief News – Tens of Thousands of Ukrainians hurried to the borders carrying their children after Russian forces pressed and threatened to capture the Ukrainian Capital Kyiv.
The U.N Refugee agency confirmed that more than 120,000 people have run for their lives from Ukraine to Poland and other neighbouring countries to find shelter until everything comes back to normal.
Some of them walked through the night whereas others fled by car, train and bus creating lines miles long at border crossing. The people on the other side of the border were ready to greet their friends, family by reaching there safe and sound.
Shabia Mantoo, the spokeswoman of the U.N High Commissioner for Refugees said “ This may go up, it is changing every minute. It is very fluid and changing by the hour”. The agency suggests that the numbers for refugees could grow as the situation escalates.
Most of the people who fled off the country were Childrens, womens and Elderly as Zelensky announced a ban for young age mens to leave the country. Some Ukrainian men were coming from Poland to fight against the Russian forces.
Neighbor Countries Welcoming Ukrainians:
In contrast to other conflicts around the globe, Russia’s unjustified attack on Ukraine has ignited a massive outpouring of support for the fleeing Ukranians.
Even countries like Poland and Hungary are warmly welcoming the refugees. Over time these are the same countries which have refused to accept refugees fleeing from the Middle East and Africa during times of conflict or poverty.
The massive number of Ukranians were seen heading towards the Polish border, Poland is the country where almost 2 million Ukrainian have already settled and worked in recent years. They moved there during the time when Russia invaded Crimea in 2014.
Poland Government Officials said “ More than 100,000 Ukranians had crossed the polish-Ukrainian border in the past 48 hours alone. Poland announced its border open to fleeing Ukranians, even for those without official documents”.
Even Victor Orban, Hungarian Prime Minister, has declared that the Hungary borders are open for all the legal residents of Ukraine. The Country is ready to facilitate neighbours in the time of crisis.
Mantoo said “ Most Ukranians were heading to neighbouring Poland, Moldova, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia but some even fled into Belarus. Some planned to head further to other countries in Europe”.
