Beijing, Europe Brief News – The world’s top anti-doping agency is all set to investigate kamila valieva associates who tested positive for banned heart medication. This incident has put her figure skating career in danger.
Her participation in the future games is uncertain as she is not allowed to take part in any competition until the court makes a conclusion.
The court of arbitration for sports will decide her further participation in the Olympics after hearing at 8:30 pm.
Her three coaches under the agency’s investigation are Eteri Tutberidze , Sergei Dudakov and Daniil Gleikhengauz as well as the team’s doctor Filipp Shvetsky and a physiotherapist.
The world anti doping agency (WADA) said in a statement that it would request its independent intelligence and investigation department to look into coaches, doctors and adults playing their roles around athletes.
The International Olympics committee has requested WADA to begin an investigation and in response to that WADA has claimed that the Russian anti-doping agency has already started investigation of athlete associates to find who is responsible.
Valieva found positive for a banned heart drug at her last participation in the national championship competition. Meanwhile she took part in the competition and it took six weeks for the doping agency to inform her that she tested positive.
Uncertainty over valieva participation in winter olympics
Her further participation in the games and a gold for Russian olympic committee in a team event is at stake as the global committees are mounting pressure concerning the history of Moscow’s doping history.
One of the valieva’s coaches Tutberidze said in a statement to Russian television “ Valieva was clean and innocent and she must be allowed to participate in the future games”.
It is evident that Valeiva is the only youngest athlete to test positive for a drug at the stage of Olympics. It certainly raises a question on the role of the adult associates.
There is a high possibility that the committee sanctions her associates with a number of violations including unsportsmanlike conduct, doping and harassment.
A panel of three judges for CAS will hear arguments from IOC, WADA and international skating union to put back a ban on athletes which was initially lifted by the Russian anti-doping agency.
Hidehito Ito, Japan’s chef de mission said “ the athletes are a bit disappointed that they have to wait for the medal ceremony to happen”.
