EBN- The fall winter 2023/24 fashion season is in full swing, and with it comes a whole new set of colour trends to inspire our wardrobes.
1. Red is back
There is no doubt: red is the trendy colour of this autumn/winter 23/24. Strong and passionate, this nuance is considered difficult to wear, but the Fashion Week runways help us by suggesting outfits. Prada creates an outfit with an oversized skirt and jacket that is perfect for a day at the office. At the Ferragamo show, they made us dream of a patterned coat with a red base.
Anyone who thinks that red is synonymous with seduction in the evening can change their mind: Balmain comes up with a top inspired by the past that enhances the silhouette of the model, making it super chic, while Carolina Herrera displays the perfect cocktail dress: short but high-necked. Our advice? Always evaluate the proportions, lengths, necklines and do not overdo it. If well dosed, red is a wearable and elegant colour.
2. Grey, the never-fail neutral
Those who love neutral colours will be delighted with the great return of grey. From New York to Paris via Milan, it was an invasion of grey outfits. At Bottega Veneta, grey is synonymous with rigour, for women who love a masculine but cool style. Miu Miu creates a series of grey looks that perfectly embody that Milanese bourgeois style so loved by the brand’s fans, with a hint of a look at the past given by the hooded sweatshirts seen in the 90s–2000s.
N21 brings chic, feminine, strong women to the catwalk and the grey coat becomes a key piece to use both for an elegant evening over a silk pencil skirt and with jeans and a white t-shirt. But grey can be a very fun colour, as Michael Kors reminds us with his silver grey sequinned jumpsuit combined with a rigorous outerwear to tone down the disco ball effect.
3. Brown to keep it hot and cozy
Chocolate, coffee, earth, and caramel: the autumn/winter 23/24 fashion has elevated brown to a trendy colour in all its possible variations. From gourmand nuances to those more arid innately, the shades of brown have made their way onto the catwalk through the protagonist collections of this season.
There is no boredom or banality in the way they are proposed, on the contrary: sophistication and elegance pave the way for a palette that is coherent with the maximum idea of femininity. First, it is the leather that makes the use of brown particularly bold: this is demonstrated by the Chanel dress, worn with contrasting coloured tights, but also the jacket and skirt suit by Tod’s and the midi dress by Sportmax. Power to brown is also shown in outerwear: autumn/winter 2023/24 proposals invite us to play with volumes, as in the case of the boxy coat by Saint Laurent, the oversized jacket by Prada and the iconic teddy coat by Max Mara.
4. Mustard yellow
For some seasons, yellow has been occupying a prominent place on the catwalk, and yet, never being the protagonist. Next autumn/winter 2023–24, our wardrobes won’t be complete without a jumper or a sun-coloured suit. The first confirmation of the trend comes from Marni dyeing them in shades between mustard and canary.
Isabel Marant suggests combining a pair of leather thigh-high boots with a yellow maxi pullover; sexy without risking too much. Burberry surprises with a fashion show that pays homage to the icons of the English fashion house. But it also creates modern looks such as the all-yellow, high-impact one. Finally, Anteprima comes strong with a satin look that is to dream of.
