He is well known for hosting the internationally recognized sports car show “Top Gear,” which is regularly one of the world’s most-watched television shows. Shirley and Edward Clarkson gave birth to Jeremy Clarkson on April 11, 1960, in Doncaster, England.

Clarkson’s parents registered him for private school years ahead of time, having no clue how they would pay the fees. His parents made two Paddington Bear toys for their children just before he started school. They became so famous that they started selling them.

Nevertheless, they were quickly hit with a takedown notice letter by Paddington Bear creator Michael Bond’s legal team. Edward Clarkson moved to London to communicate with an attorney of Bond. Just on route to the meeting, he saw Bond in the elevator, and the two hit it off. Bond granted Clarkson’s global license rights to Paddington Bear. This revenue paid for Jeremy’s education.

Clarkson has stated that he was tormented and miserable when attending Repton School. He went to Repton School with Andy Wilman, former “Top Gear” Executive Producer, and Formula One engineer Adrian Newey. For several offences, he was finally expelled from Repton School.

Career

Although he is best known as the host of the globally popular sports car show “Top Gear,” his first employment was as a salesperson for his parents’ Paddington Bears company. He also began working as a reporter for the Rotherham Advertiser, Rochdale Observer, Wolverhampton Express and Star, and Shropshire Star, among others. 

His initial chance to write about vehicles came from the Shropshire Star. He began by writing about Peugeots and Fiats, eventually on to Range Rovers and Ford Granadas. He was eventually permitted to drive an Aston Martin Lagonda after seven years. After ten years, he was allowed to drive his first Lamborghini.

In 1984, Clarkson established the Motoring Press Agency (MPA). He and colleague Jonathan Gill undertook road testing for newspapers and automotive magazines. Since the magazine’s inception in 1993, he has been a frequent contributor. Clarkson writes editorials for The Sun, The Sunday Times, and The Toronto Star, in addition to anchoring “Top Gear.” 

Clarkson has authored books about autos and a variety of other topics. From October 1988 to February 2000, and then again from October 2002 to March 2015, he was the presenter/host of “Top Gear” in its original version. Clarkson is primarily responsible for “Top Gear” becoming the most-watched show on BBC Two. This all accumulates to Jeremy Clarkson net worth.
