Paris, Europe Brief News – Film Star Brad Pitt is suing his ex-wife Angelina Jolie for selling her share of the French yard where both stars tied knot back in 2014.
Back in the days, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were a high profile bollywood couple who bought a controlling stake of Chateau Miraval in southern France in 2008.
But the Couple filed to terminate their marriage in 2016 and since then both have been fighting at the court over the custody rights of their six children.
Pitt filed a lawsuit on Thursday says that the couple had “agreed that they would never sell their respective interests in Miraval without the other’s consent”
But Julie went on to sell her stake to Luxembourg based spirits manufacturer controlled by Russian Oligarch Yuri Shefler.
Pitt claims that Jolie has broken the terms from her end as they both agreed on it and it is even written in the original document.
Pill filing States “Julie long ago stopped contributing to Miraval while Pitt poured money and sweat equity into the wine business, Building it into the ascendant company it is today”.
It claimed that the vineyard was a small unprofitable wine business that required a proper renovation before the couple purchased it in 2008.
Pitt’s Lone Efforts In Building Miraval
The couple claim to have paid around 25 million Euros. Pitt’s total contribution was 60% while Julie chipped in 40%.
According to the suit, It was Pitt who even paid for the renovations of the vineyard to make it work properly. He said this to create an understanding why Jolie must have asked him before selling stakes.
It also mentioned that Pitt brought in Marc Perrin who was by far the best winemaker in the French district. Marc then went on to transform the small business into a leading rose wine producer. Jolie had absolutely no involvement in these efforts.
Miraval revenue grew from $3 million in 2013 to $50 million as of last year. Miraval is even aiming to introduce a new line of rose sparkling wine.
Angelina Jolie’s lawyer suggests that the actress is yet to be served with the pitt law suit as she came to know about it through the news only.
Robert Olsen, Jolie Lawyer said “ I Understand that Mr. Pitt is aware that Ms jolie is on a long haul commercial international flight with their children, out of reach and unable to respond”.
